Plant Banner DIY Craft Camp 2018 #5

I do love a banner! This was inspired by my jungle of a house which is full of plants inside and out.
It involves one straight line of stitching which can be missed out if you glue it so this project is for little people too.
You will need : white fabric 25 x 40cm for the larger banner, green fabric 18x 20cm some white cotton tape white felt, grey felt, pink and red felt (for face) thread, pencil, sewing machine, iron, double sided iron on interfacing (use glue if you don't have this) a stick 30cm long, some string, PVA glue, letter stamps, ink pad.
Cut out a square of green fabric measuring approx 18cm x 20 and cut the same size in the interfacing, iron the interfacing on to the reverse side of the green fabric. Draw a leaf shape on to the wrong side of the fabric and cut around it. Peel off the paper backing.

Cut a rectangle of the white fabric measuring 25 x 40cm and cut the base into a point. Place the leaf shape on to the white fabric approx 6cm up from the point. Iron on the leaf to attach. (if using glue cut the shape out and then glue straight on to white fabric, don't use too much glue to stop the fabric from getting marked or going crunchy)

Once attached you can stitch some lines on to the leaf for detail (miss out this part if you are not sewing)

In felt cut out two white circles, two grey circles, two pink cheek circles and a little mouth in red and stick in position with PVA glue.

Using the cotton tape stamp out the words, any words you like for this bit...

Cut the tape to size and attach to banner with PVA glue, allow to dry. Fold over the top of the banner 2cm and stitch along the top to make a channel wide enough for the stick to fit through.
Push the stick through and add string to hang (40cm of string tied on at each end)
To make the smaller version, follow the steps but reduce the size, this one measures 22 x 17cm

Hope you like this last installment of my summer Craft Camp. Apologies if I have made mistakes or missed bits, these are all done in my spare time and take a long time to edit and write up.

Don't forget to check out all the projects in my tutorial tab above, they go back a good few years so can keep you busy for a while.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely summer

a handmade christmas....

...winter feels like it has arrived and I am getting ready for christmas early this year (ok I say that every year...) I'm planning a mostly handmade christmas...this works for some people but I guess I have to accept that when your 12 year old asks for a phone...a crochet squirrel might not cut it.
there has been plenty of activity inside my toasty little workshed...patchwork cushions, more owls...more cushions..a little bit of sticky back plastic action on the glass doors of my fabric cupboard...more cushions, more owls...the occasional visitor (the dog or the Mr)...folding piles of freshly washed vintage sheets ready for bundles, admiring my ever increasing globe collection...more owls...
my little shop shelves will be filled today and there is a discount of 15% off everything  with the code JOLLY15
I will be back next week to share some fab shops and then I'm planning some Christmas how to's for December x happy weekend x

happy finds...early mornings...

thrifting in the school hols is a bit non existent ...this summer we were having a BIG clear out and the only visits we made to charity shops was to drop stuff off... so I re discovered the joys of a car boot...

the first few trips we were unlucky... me and my friend came back empty handed...but we stuck at it and kept going back.. one week all I found was maps and globes (fine by me)

another week I found stoneware cups...milk glass and a vintage sheet...(yay! and all blue)

last week I found a beautiful vintage typewriter, a working 35mm camera and a vintage polaroid to add to my little collection...(similar stuff again)

I didn't realize until I started photographing them all that each week there seemed to be a theme...

these aren't car boot finds but they are second hand treasures all bought in the same week and very yellow :)

I might have one last little trip this sunday...I wonder what I'll find...

little room makeover...

this is a cute little bed and belongs to our #2... one day I dismantled it and took it outside to paint... with a view to making it look not quite so cute so we could hang on to it for a bit longer... I immediately regretted this decision as it was quite faffy to paint and was a pain in the bum to re assemble back in his little room...

there was much cursing and more faffing but eventually it turned back into a bed :)

now it's all finished I've forgotten what a faff it all was and really love it...

with some new bedding and freshly made gingham curtains it's given the room a whole new look...

having a small bedroom can be challenging but it's very cozy and we still managed to get all his favourite things back in there...

suitcases have been the best addition for storing lego and stacks of vintage marvel comics under the bed...

I didn't see much of him after we did this as he spent a lot of time in there so I'm guessing it has the seal of approval :)
