It grew from a pile of vintage fabrics and some imagination into a little business which I ran while my boys were still small. Time rolls on and now I find myself in a different place but still wanting to create and share. I do different things now to scratch that creative itch... like volunteering, running workshops and growing things. I decided to focus on my love of textiles and set myself a goal to use up all my yarn, fiber and fabric this year (ready for a big move in a couple of years time) So Fiber and Fold became the new name...from fibers of fabric and yarn to folding papers and a bit of doodling new illustrations in between. (american spelling because it looked better)<br />
So very soon I will be updating my newly named shop with new weaves, sewn things, prints and some reusable items.<br />
Thanks for reading! I know this space is rarely updated these days but the stats show that it still gets lots of visits, especially the craft tutorials and Craft Camp projects so I thought it was worth putting this out there. And if I have any crafty ideas I will always share them over here. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do love a banner! This was inspired by my jungle of a house which is full of plants inside and out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It involves one straight line of stitching which can be missed out if you glue it so this project is for little people too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You will need : white fabric 25 x 40cm for the larger banner, green fabric 18x 20cm some white cotton tape white felt, grey felt, pink and red felt (for face) thread, pencil, sewing machine, iron, double sided iron on interfacing (use glue if you don't have this) a stick 30cm long, some string, PVA glue, letter stamps, ink pad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cut out a square of green fabric measuring approx 18cm x 20 and cut the same size in the interfacing, iron the interfacing on to the reverse side of the green fabric. Draw a leaf shape on to the wrong side of the fabric and cut around it. Peel off the paper backing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3errYLLmxVk/Wz0F1T0FX1I/AAAAAAAAGGU/MGr-FrbhxY4kEYie1Vuw3xkUX0R_hc3SQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3errYLLmxVk/Wz0F1T0FX1I/AAAAAAAAGGU/MGr-FrbhxY4kEYie1Vuw3xkUX0R_hc3SQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3859.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Cut a rectangle of the white fabric measuring 25 x 40cm and cut the base into a point. Place the leaf shape on to the white fabric approx 6cm up from the point. Iron on the leaf to attach. (if using glue cut the shape out and then glue straight on to white fabric, don't use too much glue to stop the fabric from getting marked or going crunchy) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rMgunFoQQm4/Wzz__p560tI/AAAAAAAAGFc/sQaUYabNCawB10PTgmpBwBpdgwvQh2tbwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1367" data-original-width="1600" height="546" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rMgunFoQQm4/Wzz__p560tI/AAAAAAAAGFc/sQaUYabNCawB10PTgmpBwBpdgwvQh2tbwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3860.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Once attached you can stitch some lines on to the leaf for detail (miss out this part if you are not sewing)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HQ1crknAFIo/Wzz_-48dbJI/AAAAAAAAGFY/fwQIYY5-7_YFElur3mG4fUujRATg66mEwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3861.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HQ1crknAFIo/Wzz_-48dbJI/AAAAAAAAGFY/fwQIYY5-7_YFElur3mG4fUujRATg66mEwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3861.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
In felt cut out two white circles, two grey circles, two pink cheek circles and a little mouth in red and stick in position with PVA glue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rmCX-aR9Y8c/Wz0AAgetPeI/AAAAAAAAGFg/kCMnKp9bVzMG_uWs_7utdB_lW1obRMB-gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rmCX-aR9Y8c/Wz0AAgetPeI/AAAAAAAAGFg/kCMnKp9bVzMG_uWs_7utdB_lW1obRMB-gCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3862.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Using the cotton tape stamp out the words, any words you like for this bit...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iLK_W-94r38/Wz0ABWGY-WI/AAAAAAAAGFk/--IM-NrPIzkG_460efEgPYTmIzhbP3vgwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iLK_W-94r38/Wz0ABWGY-WI/AAAAAAAAGFk/--IM-NrPIzkG_460efEgPYTmIzhbP3vgwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3863.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cut the tape to size and attach to banner with PVA glue, allow to dry. Fold over the top of the banner 2cm and stitch along the top to make a channel wide enough for the stick to fit through. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Push the stick through and add string to hang (40cm of string tied on at each end) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To make the smaller version, follow the steps but reduce the size, this one measures 22 x 17cm </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Hope you like this last installment of my summer Craft Camp. Apologies if I have made mistakes or missed bits, these are all done in my spare time and take a long time to edit and write up.<br />
<br />
Don't forget to check out all the projects in my tutorial tab above, they go back a good few years so can keep you busy for a while.<br />
Thanks for reading and have a lovely summer<br />

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8oD6LMYvBvU/WzzY4uIs9nI/AAAAAAAAGEM/laidiXFJNng9vmoHXdtL62jkwH6Mgj9oACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4000.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1377" data-original-width="1600" height="550" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8oD6LMYvBvU/WzzY4uIs9nI/AAAAAAAAGEM/laidiXFJNng9vmoHXdtL62jkwH6Mgj9oACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_4000.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So the second part of the tutorial is how to make the ice cream cone, I enjoyed making this so much I made another one...you could go on and on, think of all the different types you could make. If I hadn't had other stuff to do there would have definitely been a nobbly bobbly in the gang...<br />
For this little guy you will need : white dot fabric, brown/yellow fabric and some red felt, also white, grey, pink and red felt for the face. sewing machine, scissors, thread, needle, PVA glue, iron, toy stuffing and a pom pom (optional)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z4SqA6tc1Rg/WzzZAyPZhSI/AAAAAAAAGEQ/330bRxM1qQA86hNKUV0frOzceHFpddaHQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3872.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1412" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z4SqA6tc1Rg/WzzZAyPZhSI/AAAAAAAAGEQ/330bRxM1qQA86hNKUV0frOzceHFpddaHQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3872.JPG" width="564" /></a></div>
First cut your ice cream fabric (white dot) in a shape like above pic x 2 (18cm x 14cm) Then cut the cone shape as above x 2 (18cm x 16, tapering to 7cm at the base) Then cut a piece of the red felt in to the strawberry sauce shape as above (14cm x 9cm approx) Glue the red sauce felt on to the dotty ice cream fabric and allow to dry. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c1ZxTx2csls/WzzZIDaDKNI/AAAAAAAAGE4/G9OouPPrnQIBDoeZ0lgB8fVOy_mj5uiXgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3876.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c1ZxTx2csls/WzzZIDaDKNI/AAAAAAAAGE4/G9OouPPrnQIBDoeZ0lgB8fVOy_mj5uiXgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3876.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Place the ice cream and cone right sides together and stitch 1 cm seam, repeat with the other piece. Press flat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XJfXSI48Q4I/WzzZB9gDN1I/AAAAAAAAGEU/4IGpBiC8-4ABnYmiYzVkQi27WaMG1EvYgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XJfXSI48Q4I/WzzZB9gDN1I/AAAAAAAAGEU/4IGpBiC8-4ABnYmiYzVkQi27WaMG1EvYgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3873.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
You should now have two pieces with ice cream and cone fabric (one will have the sauce on too)<br />
place them right sides together and sew withe a 1cm seam around the edges leaving a 10cm gap for turning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wyy7eohn2B8/WzzZCUO11ZI/AAAAAAAAGEY/CjaMjav6SLsOV2G9Mgcyet_S9_HnIUgNwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3874.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wyy7eohn2B8/WzzZCUO11ZI/AAAAAAAAGEY/CjaMjav6SLsOV2G9Mgcyet_S9_HnIUgNwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3874.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Trim the seams and snip in at the curves and then turn the right way out. Press.<br />
Fill with stuffing and sew up the hole as in the previous tutorial.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qy4sqWaFFMQ/WzzZIWYcE2I/AAAAAAAAGEo/VRCx3AhDQRIoOIiqA_CGVd0f7QX-15_RwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3877.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1302" data-original-width="1600" height="520" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qy4sqWaFFMQ/WzzZIWYcE2I/AAAAAAAAGEo/VRCx3AhDQRIoOIiqA_CGVd0f7QX-15_RwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3877.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut out two white circles, two grey circles, two pink cheek circles and a little red mouth and glue in position with PVA as previous tutorial.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yFrraSgOasQ/WzzZJNSTSCI/AAAAAAAAGEs/J0nsEMI97ekzbVJJ1k9DtUmSekA3YW9xQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yFrraSgOasQ/WzzZJNSTSCI/AAAAAAAAGEs/J0nsEMI97ekzbVJJ1k9DtUmSekA3YW9xQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3878.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
If you have a pom pom maker you could add a pom pom on the top, you could use a ready made one or there are lots of tutorials on how to make them with forks or cardboard rings. You could just add another felt circle or a button or bead.<br />
Hope that's all clear, it's very similar to the Popsicle/Lolly tutorial previous to this one and you can adapt the sizing and style to your favourite iced treats.<br />
Have fun! Back soon with the last Craft Camp DIY which is my favourite and is plant related<br />
Thanks for reading x<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So I was thinking I wanted to make some kind of plushie/softie (not really sure what to call them) and it was very hot in my little shed so this lolly idea seemed the right thing to do. It requires basic sewing skills but younger children can help choose colours, cut out and help with sticking. Also I'm pretty sure they would be happy to take them off your hands once you've made them. <br />
You can make these any size so you could go really big and make them as cushions or tiny and use them as key rings or bag charms. I have included approx sizes of the ones shown for your reference.<br />
You will need: fabric in pink, gold, and a pattern, double sided iron on interfacing (if you don't have this to hand you can use glue) small amount of felt (for features in white, grey, pink, red) toy stuffing, needle, thread, scissors, sewing machine, pencil or knitting needle, PVA glue, iron.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yj5QjZeXwSo/Wzy5KYnN5AI/AAAAAAAAGDg/KRbRWizfZlcEmVrs1UULMQ8_a-Qro5YlACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3864.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1270" data-original-width="1600" height="508" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yj5QjZeXwSo/Wzy5KYnN5AI/AAAAAAAAGDg/KRbRWizfZlcEmVrs1UULMQ8_a-Qro5YlACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3864.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Using the pink fabric cut out two identical pieces in the shape of a lolly 17cm x 24cm (rectangle with rounded corners at the top) Cut the patterned fabric in to a square that will fit over the top part of the lolly 17cm x 14cm Cut a piece of the interfacing in the same size and iron onto the reverse of the patterned fabric. Place the patterned fabric under one of the pink pieces and trace around the shape at the top, then draw drip shapes at the bottom and cut this out like pic above. Peel off the paper backing of interfacing and iron on to the front pink piece to attach. (if using glue use same technique to get the shape and then glue on and allow to dry, don't apply too much or it will dry hard and crunchy and tricky to sew)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AQPgwnpJAJo/Wzy5LR7QG5I/AAAAAAAAGDE/eGJNSY4C1FYFRbJ4MBJ1UbJqwSux3NqPgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3865.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AQPgwnpJAJo/Wzy5LR7QG5I/AAAAAAAAGDE/eGJNSY4C1FYFRbJ4MBJ1UbJqwSux3NqPgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3865.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Next take the gold fabric and cut out two rectangle shapes for the stick 6cm x 8cm, with right sides together pin as photo and stitch down, repeat for other pink piece. You should now have a front and back piece with 'sticks' attached, press the two pieces.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HBVmFkI9p9w/Wzy5MFNcm0I/AAAAAAAAGDI/iRMl09T64EodpHrTT4N8c01X4v6JZegOwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3866.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HBVmFkI9p9w/Wzy5MFNcm0I/AAAAAAAAGDI/iRMl09T64EodpHrTT4N8c01X4v6JZegOwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3866.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Now place right sides together and sew a 1cm seam all around the edge leaving a 10cm gap for turning on one side. (I'm using contrast thread so it is more visible on the photo)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MEG0MzCBJpw/Wzy5Onv99MI/AAAAAAAAGDM/r-fd8RJODAADMgG5KLIvIeJcKytMi9S0QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3867.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MEG0MzCBJpw/Wzy5Onv99MI/AAAAAAAAGDM/r-fd8RJODAADMgG5KLIvIeJcKytMi9S0QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3867.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Trim the seams and snip in at the corners<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MAmHlRu6Jhw/Wzy5PXldbuI/AAAAAAAAGDQ/2RRss9iiO7cIYPZIJLhw4ed4x0bMZacMQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3868.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MAmHlRu6Jhw/Wzy5PXldbuI/AAAAAAAAGDQ/2RRss9iiO7cIYPZIJLhw4ed4x0bMZacMQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3868.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Turn the right way out and press, fill with toy stuffing (or if you don't have any like me I raided a cushion) no one ever notices and I do it a lot! Fill it nice and full, use a pencil or knitting needle to get it right in to the corners<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2K6sSnt6X4M/Wzy5QEbwocI/AAAAAAAAGDU/I2MmBobbaU4oZ-D-Jy7Kh3sQrFnnnqIGgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1600" height="540" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2K6sSnt6X4M/Wzy5QEbwocI/AAAAAAAAGDU/I2MmBobbaU4oZ-D-Jy7Kh3sQrFnnnqIGgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3869.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Then neatly stitch up the hole at the side to close up the gap.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eIaqD-jAVn0/Wzy5T47NPiI/AAAAAAAAGDY/x27JtzAXdjAYxJ_TqYcbfPq2ZndHKjdZgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3871.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eIaqD-jAVn0/Wzy5T47NPiI/AAAAAAAAGDY/x27JtzAXdjAYxJ_TqYcbfPq2ZndHKjdZgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3871.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Now for the fun bit (some people like to add faces before sewing up but I like to do it after)I'm just a bit contrary like that so if you prefer the other way then feel free to add this step in before sewing together. Cut two white circles, two smaller grey circles, two pink circles and a little red mouth. Position them where you want them to be and then glue on with the PVA.<br />
<br />
Now as you see below I also made an ice cream version and that DIY will follow very soon!<br />

<br />
Need something to keep your shades in? This nifty little case will protect your glasses and is pretty easy to make, some sewing skills required but it only involves sewing straight lines so not too tricky for a newbie stitcher. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-czWNhsehTyA/WzukzneeqtI/AAAAAAAAGBA/Dd8JCBgiEbUgmQeFootcKB0aBUN0T2_KgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3841.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1216" data-original-width="1600" height="486" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-czWNhsehTyA/WzukzneeqtI/AAAAAAAAGBA/Dd8JCBgiEbUgmQeFootcKB0aBUN0T2_KgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3841.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I have a lot of sunglasses so I made a few. They only need a small amount of fabric. For one case you will need approx : Fabric (19 x 22cm) Felt (19cm x 26cm) some thin nylon cord or ribbon, button, scissors, pins, sewing machine, needle, thread, iron. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nuGXUYtJiyc/Wzuk4ZLNmCI/AAAAAAAAGBI/VjDnqWuPq_YvpPv41D3nueffIjIf2sLkACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1170" data-original-width="1600" height="468" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nuGXUYtJiyc/Wzuk4ZLNmCI/AAAAAAAAGBI/VjDnqWuPq_YvpPv41D3nueffIjIf2sLkACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3845.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Cut the fabric to 19cm x 22cm and the felt to 19cm x 26cm, place fabric right sides together (felt is double sided) The felt piece will be longer than the fabric so don't worry that they are different sizes. Pin the 19cm edges together and sew with a 1cm seam. Pin the other 19cm edges together and insert a small loop of the cord (loop folded is 4cm) or ribbon at the centre point (loop sandwiched inside) and sew along in 1cm seam. Reinforce the bit where the loop is by sewing over again to make sure it doesn't come out. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PVM0_XN9GtM/Wzuk4AtCuqI/AAAAAAAAGBE/guA_xkkasCQcfYRmNOKAwygOrtQsglIUACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PVM0_XN9GtM/Wzuk4AtCuqI/AAAAAAAAGBE/guA_xkkasCQcfYRmNOKAwygOrtQsglIUACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3846.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Because the felt is larger than the fabric it will look a bit odd
(see photo below, sorry the fabric is different as I forgot to take a
photo first time, but hopefully you get the idea) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m4nVjYX5IXY/Wzuqxn6-d_I/AAAAAAAAGCY/USGwCRnGU6srT0NUsiqZEZ1RJGT8H4HbQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m4nVjYX5IXY/Wzuqxn6-d_I/AAAAAAAAGCY/USGwCRnGU6srT0NUsiqZEZ1RJGT8H4HbQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3843.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Turn the right way out and gently press the felt flat (not too hot an
iron if it is acrylic felt) so the felt sits like a binding on the top and bottom edge
of the fabric. (see below)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p6UEtXmJSAE/Wzuw2fuO-pI/AAAAAAAAGCs/EInXGwRFixoTZdN124v3ib66vN8VlIlMACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p6UEtXmJSAE/Wzuw2fuO-pI/AAAAAAAAGCs/EInXGwRFixoTZdN124v3ib66vN8VlIlMACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_4012.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Then with the felt facing out fold the top edge down 3cm approx and the bottom edge up 9cm approx so that the edges overlap slightly. Pin and stitch down each side (1cm seam) I added a loop of ribbon in the seam here just as an extra detail not essential. (see below)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-__uJ_afj0u8/Wzuk9CVRu5I/AAAAAAAAGBQ/vlsMTh1vwBowuLjfLNQeHIPmQggqDCmsACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-__uJ_afj0u8/Wzuk9CVRu5I/AAAAAAAAGBQ/vlsMTh1vwBowuLjfLNQeHIPmQggqDCmsACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3848.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Trim the seams and then turn the right way out. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-09B_axsw5lY/Wzuw5S5B-mI/AAAAAAAAGCw/OYRg6ZaIYFg-ALmP-cXos7r9UrRlUC3agCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_4011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1321" data-original-width="1600" height="528" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-09B_axsw5lY/Wzuw5S5B-mI/AAAAAAAAGCw/OYRg6ZaIYFg-ALmP-cXos7r9UrRlUC3agCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_4011.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Gently press and sew on the button at the base of the loop. I'm worried
it all sounds a bit complicated but once you have made one and see what
each step does it becomes clearer. The idea is based on a tissue holder I
found on pinterest and I adjusted the steps and size to make this
case. Finished case measures roughly 17cm x 10cm so if you have very big glasses you might want to add a few extra cms on to the original sizes.<br />

This is a super quick and easy DIY for long summer holidays, based on the idea that you would make these little packets and put activity ideas or little treats in them. When boredom strikes you have lots of ideas and suggestions for keeping busy.Making them is also a boredom buster so... win win. Make as many as you like...a few days, a week...the whole summer<br />
You will need : patterned paper, magazines or strong wrapping paper would work (I used origami papers and recycled paper) scissors,ruler, washi tapes, hole punch, string and hole reinforcers!? (optional) also something to hang them from...a branch, twig, stick or I used a scarf hanger (I use this for our advent calendar and hang it on a wall) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8LoZPcQjh2A/WzorFG4pgEI/AAAAAAAAF_s/ZopWYoCr4iUlWY_r1PMcwPF-AcioK7SJwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1260" data-original-width="1600" height="502" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8LoZPcQjh2A/WzorFG4pgEI/AAAAAAAAF_s/ZopWYoCr4iUlWY_r1PMcwPF-AcioK7SJwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3882.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
First you need to cut the paper so it is 15cm x 11cm<br />
fold in half and tape together the longer edge, make sure to fold the tape over to hold both sides...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mXc2ieC2Z10/WzorDR4mQvI/AAAAAAAAF_0/W04c7Y5adRgUOTjRxOS08OZefJ4cCrWugCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1249" data-original-width="1600" height="498" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mXc2ieC2Z10/WzorDR4mQvI/AAAAAAAAF_0/W04c7Y5adRgUOTjRxOS08OZefJ4cCrWugCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3883.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
then squash it flat with the seam in the centre and tape along the bottom edge <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kn-lVjJAZJQ/WzorA7PX7VI/AAAAAAAAF_k/ukuM__a6TpcpCNbStIFCzqZ83_FEhQ1zgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3884.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1384" data-original-width="1600" height="552" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kn-lVjJAZJQ/WzorA7PX7VI/AAAAAAAAF_k/ukuM__a6TpcpCNbStIFCzqZ83_FEhQ1zgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3884.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Now squash it flat the opposite way so the seam is at the side and fold over the top open edge. Using the hole punch make a hole in the centre. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-310cOnB4cH4/WzorBffQznI/AAAAAAAAF_k/puOONgEbZlETHXjjdxNnWaOOBmZ3AAWTQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1308" data-original-width="1600" height="522" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-310cOnB4cH4/WzorBffQznI/AAAAAAAAF_k/puOONgEbZlETHXjjdxNnWaOOBmZ3AAWTQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3885.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Now you need to add the contents, I used the spare bits of paper from trimming to size and wrote messages on...ideas for activities or a bit of spending money for a trip to the ice cream van, some seeds, treats or places to visit. (or jobs they could do if they are older) You can do these for any age (even grown ups) just change out the activities. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uVV5eB7YFKM/WzorK_KSpFI/AAAAAAAAF_0/DCtK4kqVLks0bX8_cWaSc8IQoodb4pzJQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1309" data-original-width="1600" height="522" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uVV5eB7YFKM/WzorK_KSpFI/AAAAAAAAF_0/DCtK4kqVLks0bX8_cWaSc8IQoodb4pzJQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3887.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Add the messages or contents to the bags and then you can fix a couple of these hole stickers over the punched hole to keep it from tearing. This bit isn't essential if you don't have any but take care not to make them too heavy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-thmjniqMFYk/WzorKjzCx1I/AAAAAAAAF_w/z1Tj4hTcuswNYG5qCSyieRg-UuHSwN17wCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3888.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-thmjniqMFYk/WzorKjzCx1I/AAAAAAAAF_w/z1Tj4hTcuswNYG5qCSyieRg-UuHSwN17wCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3888.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Once filled they can be tied up with the string, be sure to leave about 12cm of string so you can tie the bags on. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knlICshY6ac/WzoweaC4f2I/AAAAAAAAGAg/Qv5zcMm7UdYBbtsN9Afi2ja07nApk1aAQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3962.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knlICshY6ac/WzoweaC4f2I/AAAAAAAAGAg/Qv5zcMm7UdYBbtsN9Afi2ja07nApk1aAQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3962.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Make as many as you want... They are addictive so the more the merrier. (great for little gifts when visiting friends)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When they are all done, tie them on and hang up somewhere ready to use. If you need to make lots you could string up a line and hang them with pegs or if you don't have anywhere to hang them fill a large jar or basket. <br />

<br />
ok so here is the last DIY for craft camp week..a little house pillow for reading in bed.It would make a great addition to a reading corner or den or looks great on a bed! (and yes I did buy that book because I liked the cover but I'm hoping it lives up to it's looks)<br />
you will need sewing skills for this so not one just for little people but...they can choose the colours/fabrics and cut out and design/plan the windows etc and of course enjoy it once it is made.<br />
<br />
you will need<br />
- a pillow (40 x 70cm) this was the size I had, so the fabric measurements are relating to this if your pillow is bigger or smaller you will need to measure it and adjust the measurements accordingly...it won't matter though if the cover is a little small or big...pillows are quite forgiving<br />
- fabric scraps x 4 for windows etc<br />
- ric rac trim<br />
- pom pom/button (optional) <br />
- scissors<br />
- pins<br />
- iron/board <br />
-sewing machine/thread<br />
- 1 piece of fabric for main front part 46cm x42cm<br />
- 1 piece of fabric for roof 28cm x 42cm<br />
- 1 piece of fabric for large back panel 60cm x 42cm<br />
- 1 piece of fabric for small back panel 34cm x 42cm<br />
<br />
- cut out all the pieces of fabric and lay the front pieces on a table, cut out three rectangles for windows and one longer rectangle for the door (pic 1)<br />
- take the roof piece and the main piece and place right sides together along the width of the fabric. -Sew a 1cm seam along this edge to join the two pieces together (pic 2) press flat<br />
- pin the windows/door in place and cut the ric rac to fit inside the windows (pic 3/4) stitch them all down. You can use a zig zag stitch here to keep the raw edges from fraying as much.<br />
- take one of the back panels,along one of the 42cm widths fold the edge over twice and stitch down to make a hem, repeat with the other back panel. (pic 5) press flat.<br />
- place the house front piece right side facing upwards on a table lay the larger back panel on top right side down and then place the smaller panel right side down on the remaining part, they should overlap approx 10 - 12cm (pic 6) pin in place and sew a 1cm hem all around the edges to make the cover.(pic 7) I overlocked the edges to stop them fraying but you can zig zag or use pinking shears to do the same job. Press all the seams and turn the right way out.<br />
- at this point I stitched on a pom pom for a door handle but you could use a button or a circle of fabric/felt.<br />
- Put the pillow inside<br />
note* if you are struggling with my instructions on the envelope back part of this tutorial have a look at <b><a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-sew-an-envelope-pillow-cover/">this</a></b><br />
Other ideas... you can make this in any size or shape, add more windows, do a version of your house or apartment or make a favourite building. You could make the windows in to pockets by not sewing the top edge down, if you lay the pillow the other way you could do a really cool retro bungalow. You could add curtains and more detail or keep it really simple. If your sewing skills aren't up to this you could just customise a ready made pillowcase and glue the windows on.<br />
<br />
Remember all these projects are just for fun and don't have to be perfect, do your own thing and enjoy...share your pics over on instagram if you make any.<br />
Hope you have enjoyed craft camp, I've loved making these projects, once again apologies for any mistakes, these were all thought up, made, photographed and written up in a few days and in a hurry between my work and family jobs but hopefully they have inspired some crafty adventures this summer :)<br />
<br />

<br />
A classic summer camp craft is the Gods Eye or Ojo de Dios...they look great in bright colours or simple natural tones and you can adapt them to suit your own style. There are lots of tutorials on the Internet for these, if you need more instructions it might be worth looking <b><a href="http://www.craftaholicsanonymous.net/how-to-make-gods-eye-tutorial">here</a></b> as mine are quite basic. Big or small they look great hanging inside or out. This D I Y is for a mobile and you will need:<br />
- wool in your favourite colours<br />
- string<br />
- kebab sticks<br />
- a wooden stick/twig<br />
- scissors<br />
<br />
- to make the cross cut the kebab sticks down to shorter lengths, cut 5 pairs (each pair should be the same length) but you can vary the size of each cross. My 5 crosses vary from 15cm to 8cm.Take one pair of sticks and tie a piece of wool around both in the centre, knot tightly. Open the sticks out to form a cross. (pic 1)<br />
- with a new colour, start wrapping the wool around the sticks, you can wind under or over for different effects (pic 2 is over pic 3 is under)when you are happy with the look, tie the ends in a secure knot.You can cover the cut ends with the next layer for a neater look. <br />
- continue with different colours, if you prefer a simpler version just use 1 or 2 colours<br />
- when you get to the last layer wind the wool a few times round each stick to give a neater finish and then knot tightly and cut. (pic 4 /5)<br />
- make 4 more crosses and weave them as above, you can leave gaps between each colours and wind under and over to make them look different.<br />
- when you have made all 5, cut 5 pieces of string in various lengths and tie one end to each gods eye,<br />
tie the other ends to the wooden stick and then cut another piece of string 30 cm long and tie to each end of the stick.<br />
<br />
other versions and ideas...you can use small twigs or lolly sticks and sticks instead of kebab sticks. You can use fabric strips or add beads or charms ( I had some wooden beads which fitted onto the sticks so I added them) You can make huge versions with bigger sticks and just hang them individually. They look lovely on a wall in a group and also outside in trees. Perfect for camping holidays or back gardens. Or you can hang them in windows.<br />
<br />
have fun and share your photos if you do make some :)<br />

another d i y today, this time a banner for your wall. Very popular at the moment but here you can make one with your own favourite colours and sayings. <br />
you will need<br />
- a piece of medium weight fabric size approx 40 x 30cm (mine was a brushed craft cotton)<br />
- felt in various colours<br />
- scissors<br />
- wooden stick measuring 30cm in length<br />
- wool<br />
- string<br />
- needle/thread<br />
- glue gun / or PVA glue<br />
- pom pom maker (optional) <br />
- sewing machine (optional)<br />
- Cut the fabric in to a rectangle measuring 40cm x 26cm, with the shorter length as the width cut a point in to the bottom hem. choose your words and count out the letters, short words work best, 2-3 lines max. cut out different coloured squares to match the amount of letters, (pic 2)this helps to keep them all the same size, next cut out each letter of your words.(pic 3) They don't have to be super neat and you can leave solid shapes in some letters. Glue the letters on to the fabric banner. <br />
- Make some tassels by wrapping wool around your hand, (pic 4)cut across the loop to form strips of wool, lay on a flat surface and take a piece of the same wool and tie it in the centre (pic 5) fold the wool in half and then with some more wool wrap around the top to form a tassel tie securely (pic 6) trim the ends to the same length. Make a few more tassels (pic 7) and if you have a pom pom maker add some pom poms in different colours. If you don't have a gadget to make them you can see a tutorial <a href="http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Pom-Pom"><u><b>here</b></u></a><br />
- Fold over the top edge of the banner to make a 4cm hem, sew a running stitch along the top making sure to leave a big enough gap for the stick to fit through (pic 8) I machine stitched this part as I had my machine there on my table but hand stitching is fine also. Feed the stick through the gap.<br />
- using a needle and thread stitch the pom poms and tassels on to the banner. (pic 9)<br />
- cut a piece of string 30cm long and tie around each end of the wooden stick to make the hanger.<br />
<br />
Other ideas, you could use felt for the whole banner, use just one colour for the words. You could make mini versions with initials on or a shape like a star or heart etc. If you don't have felt you can use fabric scraps for the letters or use a patterned fabric for the banner.<br />
Have fun<br />

so here are the little guys that go inside the pots from the previous post... super easy and cute!<br />
here's how....<br />
<br />
you will need<br />
-large pom pom maker (mine is a clover one, I used the green size)<br />
-green wool<br />
-mini pom poms<br />
-glue gun<br />
-scissors<br />
<br />
- make three pom poms (I made the pom poms bigger than the pots so I could trim them to shape) if you don't have a pom pom maker you can use this <u><b><a href="http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Pom-Pom">tutorial</a> </b></u>trim them down to be slightly larger than the pots they are going in, make them more of an oval shape than round to look more cactus like. (pic 1)<br />
- take three or four of the mini pom poms and attach to the top of the big pom poms using the glue gun (pic 2/3)<br />
- place inside the pot and push down so it stays put<br />
Have fun!!<br />

<br />
hello!! here is the first instalment of craft camp...a short run of D I Y's to keep little and big hands busy this summer. Before I begin I must add that his has been an idea brewing for a few years but I have always run out of time...this year I'm determined to get these posted so I apologise now if they are a little rushed/photos are bad/no punctuation/not explained properly. The thought was to get the ideas out there in time for summer holidays (I know I'm late and some have been off for weeks already) and hopefully inspire some activities this holiday when boredom strikes. Where possible I have linked to good websites that offer a more in depth description of some of the crafts. Hopefully you will be inspired and have a go!<br />
<br />
You will need<br />
- a pack of air drying clay in white (mine was from hobbycraft £3.50 and it made 6 small pots)<br />
- rolling pin<br />
- board or mat with a smooth surface<br />
- knife, smooth edge/doesn't have to be super sharp<br />
- paints ( I use acrylic in bright colours)<br />
- paintbrushes <br />
- clear varnish spray <br />
<br />
- to make a pot, pull off a piece of clay the size of a small apple. Roll in to a strip making sure the depth/thickness is no less than 0.5cm (pic 1)<br />
- cut along all the edges with the knife to straighten and roll up into a cylinder shape (pic 2) put the remaining bits of clay to one side<br />
- press the two edges together to join, try not to press too hard so the clay keeps it's shape (pic 3)<br />
- using the clay you put to one side, roll in to a ball and roll out into a circle 0.5cm thickness, place underneath the cylinder and cut away the excess clay. Smooth the edges and make sure it is attached. (pic 4)<br />
- make 2 more pots in different sizes and put in a warm dry place to set for approx 24 hours ( or however long the instructions say)<br />
- when dry decorate the pots using the acrylic paints...I didn't paint the pots a solid colour first as I didn't have time and the clay was a nice grey/white colour but you can do this first if you prefer. (pic 5/6)<br />
- when the paint is dry you can add a clear coat of varnish to seal in the colour and make them more durable but this is optional, if you keep them dry they will be fine as is.<br />
<br />
finally you need something to put in them... but that's the next tutorial so check back soon!!!<br />

Hello...here is a little matchbox idea I made, it's a nice easy craft for the Easter hols.<br />
I got the white matchboxes from The Works last year and although they are a little flimsy I loved that they were white. I'm pretty sure you can find them online too, or an old empty matchbox will work just as well. <br />
Once again very simple...here's what you need.<br />
Matchboxes, patterned tape, origami paper, scissors, pens (stamps and stickers too if you have them)<br />
Decorate the boxes inside and out with the tapes, fold the bunnies as <b><a href="https://teawagontales.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/easter-tree-cards.html">these</a></b> but make sure they are small enough to fit inside the match box (square paper 6.5cm or smaller)<br />
You could also fill the boxes with little eggs or those tiny chenille chicks (I can never resist those) or make them for other occasions like the Thank you one. You could even make a small hole in the box and add some string so you can hang them as Easter decorations.<br />
Have fun!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
hello!here's a quick DIY for the Easter hols...these little cards are perfect for messages and hanging on your Easter branch/tree. They are super easy and don't really need a step by step, they are just for inspiration.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You'll need some card, envelopes, Easter stamps, hole punch/stickers for hole, washi tape, origami paper, double sided tape, stickers and string.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can make the bunnies by following this guide </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-rabbit-face.html">bunny face</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just make a few bunnies and stick them on to the card, I used brown postcards and added stickers and washi tapes to decorate. The envelopes I used are lunch money ones but any will do. I stamped some Easter messages on them (stamps were from paperchase a few years ago but they still do similar ones) Then I punched a hole through the top and stuck one of those hole stickers over it to make it stronger. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Make sure you write your card and put it inside before adding the string on the top of the envelope. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then its ready to hang on your Easter tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Other ideas... fill the envelopes with little Easter treats or recipes or you can also write clues on the cards, number them and hang them outside for an Easter treasure hunt. Or make an Easter countdown by putting a date on each one and opening one a day, like an advent calendar.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

hello...I'm back (so soon)<br />
I have been inspired by spring light and lovely fresh colours and so have made some new DIY's for the new season. First up is this spring banner, very easy and fun to make and can be adapted to any words and colours. Here's how...<br />
<br />
You will need:<br />
white card or thick paper, scissors,ruler, letter stickers, circle stickers, string, large eyed needle, hole punch and some yarn/pom pom maker and wooden beads for the trim (optional)<br />
<br />
1: cut out 8 rectangles measuring approx 10cm x 6cm and then cut out a triangle shape at the bottom on all the flags.<br />
2: punch holes in the top (see pic for placement)<br />
3: add stickers and letters to the flags<br />
4: if you have a pompom maker you can make 2 pompoms to add at each end (see below for alternatives)<br />
5/6: cut a length of the string 130cm approx and thread a pom pom and 2 beads on to the string then add the flags in the correct order and then add the pom pom and beads at the other end, tie off each end of the string with a loop.<br />
<br />
Other ideas...use brown or coloured card instead of white, hand paint your words on if you don't have stickers or cut them out of coloured paper, use shop bought pom poms or use larger beads. Change the wording for each season, birthday, etc. Make a few to spell out messages... the options are endless.<br />
have fun!! I'll be back soon with more spring ideas and some cute bunnies x x <br />

hello...after 15 months of silence I wrote a blog post!<br />
Last year we got an allotment and had a great time digging, planting, growing veggies and flowers. I made some little bird scarers (wind socks) to keep the pigeons away from the seedlings. We hung them in the trees and on sticks...I think they did the trick because we had pretty good crops and they brightened up the plot while we were waiting for things to grow. I made some more to hang in trees in our garden and as they were easy to make I've done a quick tutorial so you can make your own. See the steps below... <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
You will need:<br />
one plastic water bottle<br />
felt scraps (for features)<br />
bright coloured fabric pieces and scraps <br />
bakers string<br />
small sharp scissors (to make the hole) <br />
pins, sewing machine, thread, scissors, tape measure<br />
<br />
1- cut the plastic bottles into 1.5cm hoops (you will need one hoop per wind sock) the hoop will form the rigid top part of the wind sock, measure the circumference of the hoop and cut out a piece of fabric 2cm larger and approx 18cm deep<br />
2-3 from the felt cut out the eyes and nose, position them on the fabric (right side up) and stitch on (you could glue on if you prefer)<br />
4- cut 4 strips of contrast fabrics measuring 10cm long x 2cm, space them out evenly along the hem and stitch them on.<br />
5- fold the wind sock in half and sew together the two long open edges using 1cm seam allowance. turn right way out and fit the hoop inside at the top. make a hole at each side at the top (through fabric and hoop) and thread/tie some string through to make the hanger. (this also keeps the hoop and the windsock together)<br />
They are great for adding some colour to the garden but you could also make them for kids rooms or nurseries. Hang by the window and they will blow happily in the breeze.<br />
If you are making them for indoors you could use cardboard tubes to make the hoops instead of plastic bottles and you could glue it all instead of sewing. <br />
<br />
Hope all is clear :) I am keeping comments switched off for now just to see how it goes but you can always send me a message on FB or instagram.<br />

<br />
hi, I'm not sure if there is anybody still reading blogs these days but I am going to keep posting here with shop updates and tutorials just in case. I have been busy with my digital printed fabric, I am so happy with how they turned out and have made up some cushions and a patchwork using them. they are now listed in my etsy<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/littleteawagon"> <span style="color: black;"><span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><b>shop</b></span></span></a><br />
<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><span style="background-color: white;">As a little thank you for those who still pop by, here is a voucher code for 20% discount, just type <b>TEAWAGON20</b> at the checkout to get your money off. (Valid until 20th November) There are lots of new prints, postcards and some one of a kind christmas stockings so you could do a spot of early christmas shopping :) </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><span style="background-color: white;">I'm working on a few book commissions again but when they are finished I will be thinking up some festive how to's to share in december. x x thanks for reading x x </span></span>janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10387068724390946472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2145207836442602073.post-29796312098186054362015-10-20T15:49:00.003+01:002015-10-20T15:49:53.195+01:00Patchwork panels...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_1WfR2wvxhM/ViYtnQa73KI/AAAAAAAAFwM/7DQDGO245BU/s1600/SAM_5490.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_1WfR2wvxhM/ViYtnQa73KI/AAAAAAAAFwM/7DQDGO245BU/s640/SAM_5490.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
a while ago I was working on some fabric designs, at the same time I was also making up some vintage patchwork quilts. The vintage fabrics were lovely but my supply was running out. So I thought about designing some fabrics I could use in the patchworks...<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0JDlKkGRc7U/ViYtpeUmWAI/AAAAAAAAFwU/ADVlgcugs7w/s1600/SAM_5472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0JDlKkGRc7U/ViYtpeUmWAI/AAAAAAAAFwU/ADVlgcugs7w/s640/SAM_5472.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">the large flower print in the background is also available</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
then that idea developed further into a patchwork panel design... how very '70s and retro I thought.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
so I designed a panel based on my quilts below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2-GNXmyfdsk/ViYuIVe0FMI/AAAAAAAAFw0/IeLwJRdpGjo/s1600/SAM_5470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="612" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2-GNXmyfdsk/ViYuIVe0FMI/AAAAAAAAFw0/IeLwJRdpGjo/s640/SAM_5470.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The panel is printed with different squares of retro inspired patterns which look like a vintage patchwork you can simply sew it up with wadding and backing and make a super quick quilt or you could use it for cushions or bags, anything you like really. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xfjCFd-pAvQ/ViYtxzNM2YI/AAAAAAAAFwk/eYfkllLc8nQ/s1600/SAM_5481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="530" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xfjCFd-pAvQ/ViYtxzNM2YI/AAAAAAAAFwk/eYfkllLc8nQ/s640/SAM_5481.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
the panel is printed by a UK company called Woven Monkey and they will print any design digitally onto a selection of different fabrics...they also have an option to set up an account so others can buy your designs too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-miDayNn3rjM/ViYtkHSohQI/AAAAAAAAFwE/xO7CPpG0hKk/s1600/SAM_5502.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-miDayNn3rjM/ViYtkHSohQI/AAAAAAAAFwE/xO7CPpG0hKk/s640/SAM_5502.JPG" width="592" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I had a think about how to make this work so the panels would be available for you to buy and make your own quilts and this seemed like the best way. <br />
To buy the patchwork panel you can visit the shop <a href="http://www.wovenmonkey.com/designers/littleteawagon/"><b>here </b></a>and choose the design you want, then pick the size (sample/FQ/or metre) For this quilt I ordered a metre of (Pop Patchwork) onto 100% cotton. ** Please note the layout may look distorted until you click on the metre size then it will look as it will be printed** Printing takes around 7-10 days. <br />
One panel makes a quilt approx 100cm x 145cm and all you need to do is add the backing, binding and wadding. To make it look more realistic I top stitched along the squares. It took me less than three hours to make up this quilt. <br />
I realise this fabric is not for the true quilters amongst us, but thought it was a good way to offer up all the designs on one panel and would be ideal for beginners. Also it does work out cheaper than buying all those different fabrics.<br />
I will be adding more designs to the site too, so keep checking back.<br />
<br />

over at littleteawagon?? A quick update on the new look shop....during the summer I was very busy working on new prints and new designs for a little relaunch of my business.. a few people have asked me why I don't sell vintage fabric anymore. The simple answer is I don't really have enough left., when I first started out my work was kind of defined by the fabrics I found, at first buying them was easy and I had a lot (and I mean a LOT) but as time went on my customers began asking if I could sell some of the fabrics I used, which I did and so the fabric cupboard slowly emptied.(I have saved a few of my favourite ones which...when I can bear to will be bundled up for sale too) In the last couple of years it has become so difficult to source any decent ones that I decided to concentrate on my other passion - Graphics.<br />
I always knew that littleteawagon would have to evolve to keep going and that styles and tastes change over time and that's a good thing I think...So, the new prints are listed now and also a new range including digital download printables. I've tried to cover different age ranges, genders and interests but if you have any suggestions please let me know. I've also have been working on a range of greeting cards and some fabric designs which will be used in new home wares, lots more ideas are in the pipeline as well so pop back if you can.<br />

hello..I'm back again with another little how to..although it's not really a how to because every one knows how to paint a wooden spoon right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2VhCzGR8uPs/Vcufc7gsrSI/AAAAAAAAFnU/AuSBWzombGM/s1600/SAM_5343.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2VhCzGR8uPs/Vcufc7gsrSI/AAAAAAAAFnU/AuSBWzombGM/s640/SAM_5343.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
it's more of a here's what you could do with a wooden spoon type of post...hopefully just a bit of inspiration.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Konr2NJiYSI/VcuffLqfcuI/AAAAAAAAFnc/iasaUqm1vxQ/s1600/SAM_5345.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Konr2NJiYSI/VcuffLqfcuI/AAAAAAAAFnc/iasaUqm1vxQ/s640/SAM_5345.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
my spoons came from the kids craft section of a supermarket so have little handles but any kind will work, new ones are good but used ones are ok too in fact sometimes the darker wood looks better.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I used acrylic paints but poster paints would work too, try to avoid felt tips or pens because they bleed into the grain (even if you paint the spoons first I find they still do) I discovered this when I was making <a href="http://teawagontales.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/miss-lolly-dollyhow-to.html"><b>these</b></a><br />
Also if you are a bit wobbly with a brush (like me) a wooden cocktail stick works well for painting on small details like eyes etc...<b> </b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VC3aZYjy0WY/VcufmSTBTNI/AAAAAAAAFns/C4pmEgQ-ksI/s1600/SAM_5346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VC3aZYjy0WY/VcufmSTBTNI/AAAAAAAAFns/C4pmEgQ-ksI/s640/SAM_5346.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
don't worry if you make a mistake...the eyes went very wrong here!! but no problem, I'll show you what I did about that in a bit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-34vmGec0Evw/VcufoxwbDeI/AAAAAAAAFn0/4NqFYoga2E8/s1600/SAM_5351.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-34vmGec0Evw/VcufoxwbDeI/AAAAAAAAFn0/4NqFYoga2E8/s640/SAM_5351.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
masking tape is always handy for a bit of extra colour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BpDT0hGt6f8/Vcuf2qrB6eI/AAAAAAAAFoM/ziyUP0wSP-E/s1600/SAM_5359.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BpDT0hGt6f8/Vcuf2qrB6eI/AAAAAAAAFoM/ziyUP0wSP-E/s640/SAM_5359.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And remember the one with the bad eyes...well she ended up a masked super hero so I gave her a cape :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I added a bit of tape to the lower part of the handle and sprayed them with some clear varnish...just so the colours stayed nice and bright. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
hello... no blog posts for a while, sorry. I made a decision not just to blog for the sake of it and when it has been 5 years you do run out of things to say...but I wanted to keep the option of posting the occasional tutorial here if I made anything useful. So here I am.<br />
This came about because I needed something to hang my prints on when taking photographs of them for my etsy shop. But they turned out so well I have used them as storage for my shed and little desk area. Last year I made one for my book which is in a vintage frame and more decorative but this one is so simple.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
You will need<br />
Wooden peg board sheet (cut to your required size)<br />
1 length of wooden dowel (the size of the peg board holes) mine was 4mm<br />
White emulsion paint<br />
Paint roller/ tray or brush <br />
Small wood saw<br />
Sandpaper<br />
Acryilic paint in a few different colours / paintbrush<br />
Small screws/ screwdriver<br />
Re the wooden peg board: you can find this in timber merchants and diy stores and they will usually cut it to size for you, however they may charge you for the whole piece even if you you don't use it all so I had mine cut into 4 pieces that would easily fit in the car and I have spares to make extra boards for Mr H's shed and the kitchen. My 4 pieces cost approx £15<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7MYXhkl-CnU/Vb89R5CtHQI/AAAAAAAAFlc/2MTVqg7jpRc/s1600/SAM_5290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7MYXhkl-CnU/Vb89R5CtHQI/AAAAAAAAFlc/2MTVqg7jpRc/s640/SAM_5290.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
ok so it will look like this (unless you are lucky enough to find white pegboard, in which case skip the painting bit!)<br />
using the emulsion paint and roller paint the pegboard white, try not to over load the roller as this clogs up the holes...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GrpgJK4zWRM/Vb89Qu9fedI/AAAAAAAAFlQ/JOgJzi20PGM/s1600/SAM_5287.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GrpgJK4zWRM/Vb89Qu9fedI/AAAAAAAAFlQ/JOgJzi20PGM/s640/SAM_5287.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
if the holes do get paint in them don't worry let it dry a little and then use a piece of the dowel to push into the holes to clear them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8l2wO9Pj2TE/Vb89Q2UUsNI/AAAAAAAAFlU/hveOH2tlLEY/s1600/SAM_5288.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8l2wO9Pj2TE/Vb89Q2UUsNI/AAAAAAAAFlU/hveOH2tlLEY/s640/SAM_5288.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
while the paint is drying cut the dowel into 6cm length pieces, (I got approx 30 out of my dowel piece)...smooth the ends with the sandpaper and then paint one end in your bright coloured paint.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N_EWHt11OTY/Vb89Uc1s4DI/AAAAAAAAFls/gfB_f9J6ENc/s1600/SAM_5295.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N_EWHt11OTY/Vb89Uc1s4DI/AAAAAAAAFls/gfB_f9J6ENc/s640/SAM_5295.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When all the paint is dry push the dowels into the pegboard, make sure they go right in so you will be able to hang things on them securely, they will be a snug fit but that's good as it keeps them in place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aRD8-UqH3XU/Vb89fg0_ZiI/AAAAAAAAFmU/Xo1zWKRSjl0/s1600/SAM_5314.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aRD8-UqH3XU/Vb89fg0_ZiI/AAAAAAAAFmU/Xo1zWKRSjl0/s640/SAM_5314.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TBUmbZqGKu0/Vb89b9jUJ2I/AAAAAAAAFmE/KDTiU8MQl2s/s1600/SAM_5311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TBUmbZqGKu0/Vb89b9jUJ2I/AAAAAAAAFmE/KDTiU8MQl2s/s640/SAM_5311.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_HYcVhDWZE/Vb89djUuoGI/AAAAAAAAFmM/4INtrYY8aY8/s1600/SAM_5313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_HYcVhDWZE/Vb89djUuoGI/AAAAAAAAFmM/4INtrYY8aY8/s640/SAM_5313.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
To attach to the wall just use a small screw at each corner and fix in place. <br />
You could paint the pegboard any colour to match your scheme or leave it unpainted.You can also find lots of different fixings online like baskets, hooks, small shelves etc to make it really useful..they are usually in garage storage or workshop sections.<br />
<i>Note added ...if you want to hang heavier items on these pegs they might not be strong enough so you would be better with metal hardware like the ones they use in shops :) </i><br />
<br />

some new cushions have arrived in the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/littleteawagon"><b>shop</b></a> they had been cut out and sat on my work table for too long so I got in my shed and stitched them up. The vintage nine patch is back, along with a lovely geometric print and my favourite vintage sheet pattern. Also my newly printed Hello Sunshine fabric.I'm planning on getting more printed panels worked up and also some repeat florals.<br />

so the holidays are over but this sunny happy weather is hanging around for a bit longer hopefully. This is what our Easter looked like...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ui5WLrnM_vU/VTUQ0NtZPSI/AAAAAAAAFh0/uSXdV8Q1r3o/s1600/SAM_4666.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ui5WLrnM_vU/VTUQ0NtZPSI/AAAAAAAAFh0/uSXdV8Q1r3o/s1600/SAM_4666.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
our easter tree was a twig with origami birds, I confess I'm not taking this down anytime soon as I've grown very fond of it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CNY-zkoNcFw/VTUQsm7irNI/AAAAAAAAFhM/4IFEdgmumlA/s1600/SAM_4808.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CNY-zkoNcFw/VTUQsm7irNI/AAAAAAAAFhM/4IFEdgmumlA/s1600/SAM_4808.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
sunny days and outdoor crafting are my favourite, this door wreath was so quick and easy to make....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hDJ4UKl-no0/VTUQszIv0sI/AAAAAAAAFhQ/_H7Fe-UR2XU/s1600/SAM_4809.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hDJ4UKl-no0/VTUQszIv0sI/AAAAAAAAFhQ/_H7Fe-UR2XU/s1600/SAM_4809.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
in the second week of the holidays we tripped off to a little log cabin in North Yorkshire for a few days... no internet or phone signal so we had a chance to unplug for a few days...it was much needed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kccLW_AkPb8/VTUQsXPMArI/AAAAAAAAFhI/pVKSsQqIUuc/s1600/SAM_4795.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kccLW_AkPb8/VTUQsXPMArI/AAAAAAAAFhI/pVKSsQqIUuc/s1600/SAM_4795.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took a book, some wool and my quilt (which I take everywhere just so I feel a bit at home) and we walked and walked, saw waterfalls and castles, museums and rock pools, we took boat trips, had fish and chips on the beach and soaked up the sunny bright days.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UzgH9LDHgjQ/VTUQzRHqbxI/AAAAAAAAFhw/nzxm3QJQZRA/s1600/SAM_4778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UzgH9LDHgjQ/VTUQzRHqbxI/AAAAAAAAFhw/nzxm3QJQZRA/s1600/SAM_4778.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and of course we couldn't resist a trip to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay...<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
hello! I made this sunny neon dot cushion at the weekend and I've done a little tutorial if you fancy making one for yourself.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
things you will need<br />
cotton calico 1m should make a couple of these cushions<br />
fabric paint in your chosen colours<br />
paper plate for mixing paint<br />
sponge brush (I used a circle but you could do any shape or use a potato stamp)<br />
wool<br />
pom pom maker medium size<br />
sewing machine/thread<br />
scissors<br />
measuring tape<br />
iron<br />
pillow insert 40cm x 40cm <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>Cut out a square of calico measuring 42cm x 42cm (front piece) and two rectangles measuring 42cm x 34cm (back pieces)</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AaZfjc0H6mY/VRVfWPemSMI/AAAAAAAAFgI/vAEDQnIhP1g/s1600/SAM_4619.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AaZfjc0H6mY/VRVfWPemSMI/AAAAAAAAFgI/vAEDQnIhP1g/s1600/SAM_4619.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li> using the fabric paint and sponge brush begin stamping the front piece of fabric, allow to dry and then iron the dots to heat seal the paint.</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E1SQj3pP2rs/VRPd--xfrVI/AAAAAAAAFfs/uCtYTwtta2I/s1600/SAM_4630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E1SQj3pP2rs/VRPd--xfrVI/AAAAAAAAFfs/uCtYTwtta2I/s1600/SAM_4630.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>Hem one side of the wider edge on both of the back pieces. </li>
<li>Place the front piece right side facing up</li>
<li>Place the back pieces right side facing down over the front piece with the hemmed edges<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
towards the centre so that they overlap to make the envelope opening, pin together and sew a 1cm hem all the way around the four sides. </li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g3_ZLno8hJ8/VRPdw_ytphI/AAAAAAAAFe8/YX99uvM6Dro/s1600/SAM_4640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g3_ZLno8hJ8/VRPdw_ytphI/AAAAAAAAFe8/YX99uvM6Dro/s1600/SAM_4640.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>trim away excess seam allowance and turn the cover the right way around, pushing the corners to a point. Press the cover</li>
<li>make 4 pom poms using a pom pom maker or like <a href="http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Pom-Pom"><b>this </b></a></li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sCabK-uSSEk/VRPdxAPSvUI/AAAAAAAAFfE/MadwLzk4tuc/s1600/SAM_4641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sCabK-uSSEk/VRPdxAPSvUI/AAAAAAAAFfE/MadwLzk4tuc/s1600/SAM_4641.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>stitch the pom poms on to each corner, making sure they are well attached</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SUZqvtchbTs/VRVxj0dLAAI/AAAAAAAAFgk/NNDOtDD4dyM/s1600/SAM_4652.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SUZqvtchbTs/VRVxj0dLAAI/AAAAAAAAFgk/NNDOtDD4dyM/s1600/SAM_4652.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<ul>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6O72gR5AaM/VRPdxLq5aSI/AAAAAAAAFfA/NcxpFKm_3SI/s1600/SAM_4642.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6O72gR5AaM/VRPdxLq5aSI/AAAAAAAAFfA/NcxpFKm_3SI/s1600/SAM_4642.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
that's it, a pretty quick DIY apart from having to wait for the paint to dry...I found that the trickiest part because I am very impatient.<br />
