the post about big feet and crochet.....

I had a little trip into Manchester last week with Mr H, we try to steal away sometimes during the week as we don't get out very often and don't actually see that much of each other... so we go off somewhere..have a coffee and a bit of lunch and then noodle around a few shops...this usually entails me sneaking off to vintage and  fabric shops and Mr H disappearing in the direction of the nearest vinyl record store.......it doesn't happen very often but its just nice to spend time together....
the fruits of my trip were a small bag of lovely cotton yarn in very lovely colours....

so this weekend I turned them into these.......

and also made a bit of progress with this..

...which I started over Easter..not my usual colours but I love the way they look together with the white :)

...my plans of staying home all weekend were scuppered when in between watching re-runs of Father Ted....I saw a news article about these.....

not wanting to miss out on a very exciting chance to see these amazing GIANT puppets walking around Liverpool we piled in the car and went for a peek....

this guy was my favourite...I loved  the fact that two big men had to swing from a rope just to move his huge feet!! .... we chased them all over the city on Saturday... ( the puppets not his feet )
take a look here for more info sea odyssey Liverpool

Hope you're having a lovely week :)

charlie brown and more toilet rolls....

....so another week has whizzed by and it's friday again, I've a feeling the weekend is going to be very wet and wild so I'm planning to curl up with some crochet, old films and a pile of vintage Charlie Brown books :)

here's the result of an easter holiday afternoon with glue, toilet roll and scraps of paper and fabric....
(my best kind of afternoon )

.....Petal now has her very own little cabin of vintage patterns :)

....although I worry that her lack of arms make it impossible to hang out her little basket of vintage sheets...but I can do that for her :)

have a wonderful weekend...

more things to do with vintage wallpapers...

......a little spring break crafting has taken place..I spotted this lovely shelf over at cox and cox but also noting it was a little bit big (both in size and price) I searched and searched, then a lovely friend told me about this site
...so off I go with my white paint

yes I did paint the lamp base while I was at it :)

after a few coats and a tunnocks teacake for 'energy'.... I grabbed my stash of papers.......

......and glue and chopped and measured (kind of) and stuck...until....

I had something resembling this ......

..the perfect home for little stray deer and woodland toadstools :)

....of course once the pva glue was out...then there was no stopping me...

but I'll save that for another day :)

Hope you had a very good easter break, ours was nice..visiting family in Yorkshire, lots of walks, crocheting, picnics, dodging the raindrops and...of course a few hairy moments when boys will be boys and dogs will be dogs, pets get poorly :( and stuff breaks ( just in case that was all sounding a bit too perfect )

important stuff to do with stickers and pompoms.....

..so it's not quite here yet, but I love Easter...it's almost time to bring out those spring blossom twigs.....
....stick them in a jug and precariously dangle little chicks and eggs from them.....

it's time to dig out the Charlie Brown's Easter Dvd and those £shop pompom bunnies again...

it's time to sneak off.... pretending to attend to very important business, when really you are making little bunnies
and easter cards :)

cards  made from washi tapes and paperchase stickers

I just love spring colours... cute chicks... and little bunnies

I think this sun gone to my head???

have a wonderful week

yay........

...I won a give away............. a signed copy of the very lovely 'Homespun Style' by Selina Lake

now I know there is such a  buzz about this book already and I'm thinking most of you will have read the other blog reviews or already have the book, but I couldn't resist doing my own little post about this very  beautiful book :)

here are some of my favourite pics

.....so lovely and it gives off a vibe that's not stuffy or designer or hard to achieve..just really lovely homely inspiration for the crafty and not so crafty among us... it's had me heading for the paint store with my little swatches of blue (again!)  reaching for my yarn bag to start another crochet project and trawling ebay for a little wire cotton reel rack...

Selina is holding a book signing and homespun market in London on the 13th April
see   here    for details ... looks fab :)

have a lovely weekend ...bring on the spring x
