teawagon gets a teawagon.....

I was almost refused a lift home due to the hideousness of my buys at the car boot on Sunday...

I can understand why though as they weren't a pretty sight. I can only imagine what people thought as they saw me staggering back to the car half asleep with a mounted plastic deer head and a fake teak and brass tea trolley!!!!


but I have ALWAYS wanted a tea trolley and then I saw the blue one in this months Mollie Makes and I was on a mission :)......so after a lick of paint, some vintage decals and some oilcloth here she is..... and in true blog fashion we decided to give her a name
* DOLLY*

as much as I would love to use her as a teawagon and wheel her around the house loaded with tea and cakes..Dolly is a working girl and will be a mobile craft/work trolley......
.....as for the deer well she's not ready to face her public yet,I think she has been giving #2 nightmares!!!!

Just as the UK gets a heatwave........

I make more blankets :)

It all started with some little squares left over from here and before I knew it I was back in my fabric chopping trance again and there were enough squares for another blanket......well it would have been rude not to just get on with it.......

So another vintage patchwork blanket appeared....... a little paler and more washed out than the first and with a little wincyette (yes I did shamelessly say wincyette) sheeting on the reverse.

and as I have no girly bedrooms to bestow this one upon...I snuck into #2's bedroom while he was at school and turned his bed into what can only be described as a homage to grannies airing cupboard circa 1970!...... (he humoured me..)
so.. I must focus on making bags this week..only a month left before summer break ...oh but then I did find something at the car boot this weekend which could prove to be another distraction :)
....if it turns out well I will show and tell ..

Show and tell........

Once upon a time a sad little dark brown and (a little bit stinky) cupboard came home with me.......it sat for many weeks unpainted and unloved..then the other week when the sun was shining I whipped it outside, popped on my painting hat ( I always get paint in my hair!) and gave it a little makeover, all shiny and white inside and out and with pretty flower sticky back plasticky stuff......then I popped her back inside and gave her the job of looking after all our #1's and#2's DVDs...hurrah job done!!! and I even have space to display some of my little vintage bits...all for £5...bargain

I won't mention that the boys can't actually open the doors to get to their DVDs because I was so happy with the result I shut them too quickly and now they are stuck.......ahem...
I was supposed to be making bags today...

But this little bundle kept calling to me....so I finished this instead..pics to follow.......

Have a lovely weekend...sorry I know its only Thursday but it feels like Friday and I never know what day it is anyway :)

round and round..........

Sometimes you need a project that you can just pick up and not think about too much......I can't read crochet patterns very well....(I'm working on that) but in the meantime I just like going round and round...

It's mindless, therapeutic, it grows fast and best of all I don't even have to look much to see what I'm doing..which means I can watch Madmen at the same time :)


It grows so fast that I had to start another blanket......this is for #1's bedroom so am trying 'very' hard to not put any pink in..........in fact I have made so many blankets now that when we went to my Mums in the holidays I left a couple on their bunk beds, much to my Mums amusement as it was my lovely Mum who taught me how to crochet :)

......when I'm not going round and round you can find me most days buried under a pile of fabric... in other words avoiding housework and other grown up duties :)
