deer derek.........

derek overseeing a photo shoot
............one day when out shopping for crafting supplies ( trying to be very organised and starting to make christmas gifts ) derek appeared and found his way into my basket, I honestly am not sure how it happened...one minute I was talking to the assistant , she disappeared stating there was one hidden away in the store room...next minute my purse is considerably lighter (£££)
and he is sitting on the car seat next to me :)

obviously before even taking off my coat...the p.v.a was mixed and the papers were out (derek was a brown paper model before I got my hands on him )
As usual I didn't plan...at first he was much paler with more retro papers.....no not quite right.....then he became this combination...

I spy deerdre in the mirror eyeing up the new boy :)
he is great I love him, he reminds me of the Moose head from the Banana Splits....

but the colours aren't working, I am thinking of spraying him gold or just painting him white...or should he be left as he is ....he might grow on me ????

  1. Well, i like Derek...although he's looking a bit girlie ;-)
But thinking of him in white or shiny gold makes me happy too...
Maybe white with colourful dotted paper ears?
    ...or vintage flowers...

I wouldn't change Derek to soon, just look at him for a while, he's cute the way he is...

  3. nooooooo i love derek! I have a suggestion - Move derek to the cuckoo clock box is, remove the cuckoo clock if you can then put the pale blue mirror up under the red... diagonal from the yellow, I badly photoshopped it up to see what it looks like and the colours totally work and derek is the focal point in his lovely colours ^_^

  11. I'm liking Derek as is! But me being me and loving neutrals I'll suggest some of my favourite decoupaging paper - old book and manuscript pages if you fancy something more neutral?

  12. I love him.... I did this same thing recently a local shoe store in our tiny town was going out of business and I went in looking for a pair of shoes for hubby and walked out with Hilda our headless mannequin. Jane I once tried my hand at this and it was disastrous.....maybe the key is to not start at wine time! You have so inspired me to do something with her......and Mr. D is just as perfect as could be no changes needed he's brilliant!

  15. weeeeelll, i have pondered and i must say, i thought him most spiffy in his little paper coat.
but i also think some crochet cozies around his antlers might look rather lovely and warm him up a bit. or perhaps 'dingley dangley' thingies hanging there... a bit of deer 'bling' if you will :)

  19. Now I have a smaller deer head Christmas decoration which hung. I didn't like the hanginess so I stuck a magnet to the back and he now sits rather splendidly to the fridge. The point of telling you this?? He is totally covered in glitter... Now. There's a thought. Happy week to you. Ax

  20. Bother and blast Derek. Now I am obsessing about your craft problems as if I didn't have enough to think about. Painted white with grafitti is my next thought. Ax
